ILLUMINITE - TORONTO ON
November 19th, 2011
We are very excited to announce that we will be creating another custom pyrotechnic performance spectacle for Illuminite, the Downtown Yonge holiday tree lighting event. This is a show that we look forward to every year as it gives us a chance to play one of our favorite Toronto outdoor venues, Yonge-Dundas Square. This free outdoor event starts at 6:30pm and culminates with the lighting of the large holiday tree. We have lots of new surprises in the works so if you can, come on down and join in the festivities.

One the fireworks side of things we are very pleased to be providing two shows for the City of Brampton on New Years Eve. The first is a four-minute long display at 9pm and then a six-minute long show at midnight. Both of these shows will be fired from rooftops, which always adds to the excitement. The show choreography will be designed around the architecture of the building to create an even bigger overall picture.

SKYY VODKA - GIANT MARTINI GLASS CRANE STUNT
This past September we had an opportunity to create a custom aerial performance for Skyy Vodka. We were presented with the challenge of creating a performance that would really stand out during the Toronto International Film Festival, which, if you have ever attended, is a complete zoo of celebrities, events and media distractions. Working closely with our client we devised a show that incorporated a twelve foot high martini glass suspended from an industrial crane with an aerial performance taking place on, in and around the glass set piece while the whole rig was suspended fifty feet in the air. Of course, to cap it off we added a healthy dose of pyrotechnics.
How did it turn out? Well, the show was a HUGE success and went very viral in every sense of the word. There was a write up and picture on the cover page of Toronto’s Metro paper and it was all over the Internet and Facebook. It was also a lot of fun to do and a great example of guerilla performance done right.

GIANT TESLA COIL FOR CHEVY VOLT LAUNCH
We just finished a very interesting project that started out with a relatively innocent question from one of our long-standing clients. The question was, “what do you know about tesla coils?” Well it turns out our technical director, Tom Comet, worked extensively with tesla coils a number of years ago on a TV show for the Discovery Channel. Perfect!
This time around the tesla coil was to be part of a large set piece that would play a key role in the Chevy Volt launch held at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto. We built a large pedestal stand for an extremely large tesla coil and incorporated the Chevy Volt graphics. Performances were staged throughout the day from 10am to 8:30pm. Unlike most of our events, there were no live performers in this show. In this case it was car, the tesla coil itself and the 2 million volt electrical streamers that fired 6-8’ off the top of the coil that was the featured attraction. People were blown away by this high voltage spectacle and it drew a lot of attention throughout the day. It was really interesting to work with high-voltage special effects and something that we hope to work into future performances and events.
