TORONTO INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW - FEB 18th - 27th
Circus Orange has created a ten-minute custom performance for the General Motors stage at this year’s Toronto International Auto Show. The show revolves around six featured automobiles from GM’s exciting 2011 lineup. Through a combination of dance, parkour, acrobatics, mixed martial arts and special effects we have created a very fast paced show that represents the essence of each of the featured vehicles. This performance is a great representation of what we can do without the use of fire and pyrotechnics. Sometimes people think that we only do shows with fire and pyro but this is definitely not the case. Why not come on down and see for yourself?

The show takes place eight times a day from February 18th through 27th on the GM stage and is free with general admission to the Auto Show. Showtimes are 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 6:00, 7:00 & 8:00 daily with the exception of Thursday the 24 and Sunday the 27th when the last show is at 4:00pm.

OTTAWA CONVENTION CENTRE - GRAND OPENING - APRIL 13
We are very excited to have been asked to be a part of the grand opening ceremonies for the new Ottawa Convention Centre. We have partnered with Accucom Inc. on this event to bring some of our biggest and best performer based pyrotechnic stunts to Ottawa for the very first time. This show is going to be a very big deal and we will really be pulling out all the stops on this one. We don’t want to give away everything that will be taking place but let’s just say that if you are in Ottawa on April 13th don’t be surprised if you see huge golden wheels suspended high in the air with beautiful aerialists floating inside. You may also catch a glimpse of our team of rope-access ninjas rappelling down the side of one very special building. Of course, all of these performance elements will be highlighted with huge amounts of pyrotechnic effects.

TRICYCLE AT WINTERLIGHT IN EDMONTON ALBERTA
The Circus Orange Team recently returned from snowy Edmonton Alberta where we performed our original outdoor pyrotechnic spectacle show – Tricycle. The show took place January 29th and was staged as part of Edmonton’s Winterlight Festival in the very heart of downtown Edmonton. In true Alberta winter form, it was in fact -27C for the performance. The interesting thing was, this didn’t seem stop anyone from coming out as the event drew a huge crowd! The warmth of the audience and the beauty of the urban setting right in front of City Hall made for a truly magical show. Many of our cast and crew said they felt it was the very best performance of Tricycle that we have ever had. Thanks so much to the Winterlight Festival and all the folks in Edmonton who came out to bear witness that night. Hope to see you again soon.

ILLUMINITE - TORONTO'S TREE LIGHTING FESTIVAL
Every year we create a custom show for the tree lighting ceremony entitled Illuminite down at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto. This year we debuted a brand new performance piece that we call “The Aerial Birds”. Two HUGE smoking eggs were wheeled through the audience filled square in a processional style show. When the eggs reached a pre determined spot they hatched into our two bird aerialists. These aerial performers were suspended on a horizontal high line that enabled them to fly high over the heads of the audience in the square that night. It was quite a sight to behold! Of course we had some of our tried and true pyro dancers doing some original choreography on four podium stages. We added another first for this year with the addition of two pyrotechnic “grid rockets” that fired from one end of the square to the other suspended from aircraft cable. These appeared like rockets and shot right into the Holiday Tree igniting the finale pyro there.
